Insights from Nadine @ Saatchi Gallery
From January 10th - 19th, Element participants are showing their artwork at a New Years Residency at the Saatchi Gallery. We caught up with Nadine, the Saatchi's Head of Education, to find out more about her role and what she's excited about in 2018.
Our exhibition will be at the Saatchi Gallery until January 19th. For more info, see their website.
What has been your journey into Head of Education at the Saatchi Gallery?
I come from a teaching and learning background. Following on from my Masters in Fine Art, where I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I undertook a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education. After this I spent several years teaching Art and Design at FE level before making the move from formal into informal provision. I have always been a huge advocate of enrichment and access to galleries and museums. Whilst lecturing I made a point of embedding educational outings in order to facilitate participation and interaction with cultural spaces. Encouraging learners and adults to engage with galleries is so important for life-long learning and creative development.
What's your favourite part of your job?
I love having the opportunity to work with lots of different people from different walks of life.
What art exhibition are you most looking forward to in 2018?
I am looking forward to Iconoclasts: Art Out of the Mainstream’s extended run. The exhibition offers a range of really interesting artists who work across a diverse range of mediums. There is something for every audience member.
